30 years of breeding appaloosas

Early beginnings - Cora's Coralle

1974, more than 30 years ago,  I’ve seen a bay roan horse with a lightly “pale” croup and small dark bay spots! I already have heard about Appaloosa and I have seen pictures too, but I have never seen a such a horse in reality before! The most interesting fact was: this mare has been offered  for sale. The horse dealer asked DM 2,000.- (€1,000.-). He definitely did not know what there was in his barn…….I purchased the mare and registered her with the Appaloosa Horse Club. At this time, hardship registration was possible for not spayed mares.

“Cora’s Coralle” changed to my barn. Westernriding  was still unknown in Germany and I am schooled classic riding. So I tought the mare everything I could. Westerntrainer – still unknowntoo  in such times…. So we visited many classic shows with A-dressage and A-showjumping. Three-Day-Eventing was one of my favorites – once we could win the reginal club championship.

A very special  praise,  I am still proud of , was given 1983 by the Mounted Police in Kassel at the “halali” of a foxhunting: We would be glad about such horses…..

After a short time, the idea of breeding took place in my mind. The “Hessian Horsebreeder Association”- Verband Hessischer Pferdezüchter- gave me the names of three Appaloosa-stallions. One of them was “Travelin Dice”. I decided to breed my mare to this fine stallion.

One year later, it was the Easter-Monday, “Starlight Dicer” was born. Cora’s Coralle has given birth to seven more foals

Cora’s Coralle lived 27 years in my barn and she was 32 years old when she died.

Today my horses are out of proven lines. Multiple World- and International-champions are among their ancestors. Like the stallions, the mares are proven on international level. A further aspect is the use for halter AND performance. I count on nervous strengh, kindness and the “Indian Spirit”, making the Appaloosa incomparable. Registration Cora's Coralle

The “official beginning “ of the Appaloosa started 30 years ago. “Mrs. Lesch started to register all Appaloosas, she knew of, in a “pre-register” (left). At this time, Cora’s Coralle has already  been registered with the Appaloosa Horse Club. This was possible in the seventies.
